Roshni Nadar Malhotra, who serves as the chairperson of HCL Technologies, has made significant strides by becoming the first Indian woman to rank among the top ten in the Hurun Global Rich List 2025. With a remarkable net worth of Rs 3.5 lakh crore, she has been ranked fifth among the wealthiest women worldwide. Her ascent in this prestigious list is attributed to the transfer of a 47 percent stake from her father, Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL Technologies. This acquisition has granted her leadership over Vama Sundari Investments and HCL Corp, the parent companies of HCL Technologies. Consequently, Roshni Nadar Malhotra will now direct all strategic initiatives for the thriving technology enterprise valued at $12 billion. This transfer endows her with voting rights pertaining to Vama Delhi's 44.17 percent interest and HCL Corp's 0.17 percent stake in HCL Technologies, along with voting rights over Vama Delhi's 12.94 percent share and HCL Corp's 49.94 percent share in HCL Infosystems.
Prior to this transition, Shiv Nadar maintained a 51 percent ownership in both Vama Delhi and HCL Corp, while Roshni Nadar Malhotra held a 10.33 percent stake in each of these firms. She ascended to the position of chairperson of HCL Technologies in July 2020. Additionally, she is a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which is responsible for establishing prestigious educational institutions across India. The Hurun Global Rich List 2025 features a number of other Indian billionaires as well. Gautam Adani continues to hold the title of the second-richest individual in India, ranking 18th globally. Dilip Shanghvi of Sun Pharmaceutical is in fourth place in India, followed by Azim Premji of Wipro in fifth position. The 2025 Hurun List showcases a total of 3,442 billionaires hailing from 71 different countries, reflecting a 5 percent increase in the billionaire population compared to the previous year. Their aggregate wealth has expanded by 13 percent.
