Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed India's determination to take "firm and decisive action" against terrorists and their supporters, despite escalating tensions between neighboring countries. Speaking at a joint press conference with Angolan President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco, Modi identified terrorism as the greatest threat faced by humanity. His remarks come amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, following the recent Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. The attack was claimed by the Resistance Front (TRF), a faction linked to the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. It was confirmed that two of the attackers were Pakistani nationals.

In the aftermath of the attack, PM Modi addressed a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting, emphasizing that India would spare no effort in its pursuit of justice. "We will identify, trace, and punish every terrorist and their supporters. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth," he stated. As part of its response, India enacted several punitive measures, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, closure of the Attari border, cancellation of all visas issued to Pakistani nationals, a widespread crackdown on Pakistani YouTube channels and X accounts, and a downgrade in diplomatic relations.
